Treasurer's Report
KPL Bills:
After reviewing the current bills, a motion to pay was made by Doug Slaton and seconded by Mary Chapman. This motion was passed by a unanimous voice vote of the Board.
Librarian Pat Rose presented her monthly report of libary activities. She noted that she would be handing out examples of amendments to the by-laws that required a discussion this month and a vote at the next meeting. One hand-out added conflict of interest rules pertaining to trustees. The other added the dates of the library's fiscal year. These changes reflected Librarian Pat Rose's online participation in a by-law advisory class through the Alliance Library System.
Unfinished Business:
Trustees were asked to review Chapters 1,2, and 3 of the Standards for Illinois Public Libraries. These covered Core Standards, Governance and Administration, and Personnel. Cores 23 and 24 of Chapter 1 initiated a discussion concerning surveys, both in-house and area wide. These surveys will be discussed more thoroughly at a later date.
New Business:
The Board appointed Pat Rose as the Freedom on Information Officer for the library. This will put her in charge of obtaining information requested by the public.
Green policies concerning the online printing of the library newsletter and the online printing of agendas for the use of trustees was discussed. Trustees unanimously agreed that Pat Rose and Marijean Zolper should continue to research these endeavors. Doug Slaton commented that the online capability could be utilized for surveys.
After reading the correspondence concerning Project A.D.E.P.T. (which addresses the urgent need to curtail school dropout rates), the Trustees agreed that if given the opportunity Librarian Rose should attend the Dropout Prevention Summit on March 16, 2010 at the Knoxville High School.
President Mauer brought to the attention of the Board the fact that the vinyl sign on the library's entrance door was beginning to show wear. He agreed to investigate what could be done to replace or repair said sign.
Employee evaluation forms were distributed to each attending Trustee. These evaluations of Librarian Pat Rose will be reviewed by President Mauer and Librarian Rose at a future time.
Maintenance:
