WIRELESS INTERNET POLICY

During normal business hours, the Knoxville Public Library provides free Internet access for users with laptop computers or devices capable of receiving wireless signals.

Persons using the connection must register at the main desk producing a valid identification.

Library staff will provide general information necessary to access the Internet, but cannot guarantee individual success for all users.

Wireless users should be conscious of the fact that a wireless connection is not secure. Therefore, use of credit cards or personal information should be guarded.

The library is not responsible for information that is compromised due to personal lack of security or for any damage caused to hardware or software due to electric surges,etc.

Access to web-based email only is provided.

Printers are not available for wireless access. Printing may be accomplished by emailing files to oneself and then logging into a wired library computer and then sending the file to the public printer. Printed copies are 25 cents for black and white and 50 cents for color.

Users of wireless access are reminded that the educational and informational uses of the Internet should be adhered to in a legal and responsible manner. Violations of federal,state, or local laws, including the transmission or receiving of harmful, fradulent, or copyrighted material is not acceptable.

The library staff member in charge has the final say in matters pertaining to wireless access.

A minor's access to the wireless network is the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian.
